• Buda man arrested for attempting to sell human skull (fox7austin.com) — A Buda resident is facing a state jail felony charge after police say he tried to sell a human skull online, a case now being handled by Kyle police and Hays County authorities. Legal experts explain that Texas law specifically bans buying or selling human remains, and say a claim of purchasing the skull from an online retailer may not be a strong defense. 
• No injuries reported in Pflugerville house fire (cbsaustin.com) — A late-night house fire in nearby Pflugerville sent a family rushing out after their smoke alarm sounded, and firefighters say that working detector likely prevented injuries. The same report notes a separate incident where a vehicle was hit by a train in Buda after the driver reportedly fell asleep, but no injuries were reported there either. Officials are urging residents to test smoke alarms regularly.
