Cedar Park Police To Bolster Traffic Rules Enforcement For Spring Break
The effort is aimed to curb drunk driving and aggressive maneuvers during a period of increased traffic.

CEDAR PARK, TX -- Police plan to increase their traffic enforcement rules during times of Spring break-related bolstered traffic.
Cedar Park officials released an advisory for resident to that effect on Thursday afternoon.
“Spring break is nearly upon us, and Cedar Park police will once again be adding extra resources to monitor for and enforce impaired and aggressive driving violations during the busy season,” city officials explained.

Additional officers will be deployed during 17-day period of intensified traffic as students take the period off from classes. The effort will be financed through the use of Texas Department of Transportation grant funds, a spokesman said.
“In an effort to keep travelers safe, we will be saturating the roadways with additional patrol officers from March 4th to March 21st using TxDOT’s Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) funds,” city officials added.

The initiative is not meant to be punitive for motorists, but in an effort to keep everyone safe, officials added.
“Whether planning the vacation of a lifetime or a low-key staycation during the break, the rules are the same,” they said. “Don’t get behind the wheel if you’ve been partaking (this includes prescription medications that impair judgment), and drive politely so we can all Arrive Alive!”
