Cedar Park Police ID Two Children Who Died In 2-Car Collision

CEDAR PARK, TX — Police on Thursday identified the two children killed in a traffic fatality this week along with the driver currently hospitalized with critical, life-threatening injuries.

The children died at the scene of a two-car collision on Wednesday afternoon at Walton Way and Whitestone Boulevard. The wreck between two vehicles happened at around 3:45 p.m. near a Walmart store close to U.S. 183.
Police identified the two dead children as Daniel Chaudhary, who had just turned one year old no Jan. 7. The other dead child was identified as Elijah Chaudhary, who was nine years and attended Winkley Elementary School in Leander, police said in a press advisory. The driver of a 2016 Nissan Rouge the children were traveling in was identified as Zara Salman, 32. She remains in critical condition at the hospital, police said.

Police have not identified the occupants of the other vehicle involved or whether any charges would be filed.

The wreck occurred after the Nissan the children were in collided with a 2008 Dodge Ram pickup truck. Police are still trying to determine what caused the crash to occur. Witnesses with information are urged to call police at (512) 260-4834.

The children's deaths mark the first two traffic fatalities of the year in Cedar Park.

Patch requested the names of the other drivers involved and whether any charges would be filed, but the information was being withheld pending the outcome of the investigation. "I cannot release that information because the crash is still under investigation," the spokesman replied in an email.
