Cedar Park Police Standoff Ends Peacefully
Local law enforcement joined by area SWAT members at three-hour standoff scene prompted by distressed man on Doris Lane.

CEDAR PARK, TX -- Cedar Park police ended an hours-long standoff with a distressed man Saturday afternoon, the incident ending peacefully and without injury.
City spokeswoman Tara Long told Patch by telephone that an emergency call to police from the man's father came in at 1:30 p.m. What followed was a three-hour attempt at Doris Lane to convince the man to surrender himself to police.
Before that, a woman and child exited the dwelling at the urging of local law enforcement, Long said. Members ogf the Central Texas Regional SWAT Team made the scene subsequent to their exit, she said.

No further details were available. Long added the fact the call had a "mental health component" attached to it, further complicating the availability of further details.
But the main thing is: There were no injuries reported, the woman and child safely left dwelling, and the tense situation ended peacefully.

Ahead of their arrival, local police sent out a reverse 911 call to nearby residents advising them to stay in their homes, the city spokeswoman added. Two adjacent streets, including Cherry Lane, were closed off completely during the standoff as a safety precaution, Long said.
"They worked with him for a quite a while," said Long, who made it out to the scene on her day off to assist the media in learning details of the incident. "Thankfully, we were able to get him to come out."
