Coronavirus: WilCo Illness Count Grows To 19

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TX — Health officials on Tuesday said the number of positive new coronavirus cases in Williamson County has grown to 19 after five additional patients were positively diagnosed for the respiratory ailment.

Williamson County and Cities Health District (WCCHD) officials described the patients's profiles:

• A man in his 40s with travel to an area with community spread;
• a female patient in her 80s with exposure to a confirmed case;
• a woman in her 40s with an unknown exposure source;
• a man in his 50s with unknown exposure source;
• and a man in his 30s with exposure to a confirmed case.

Williamson County officials provided a breakdown as to the residency of each of the COVID-19 patients identified thus far:

• Austin: 3
• Cedar Park: 5
• Georgetown: 6
• Leander: 2
• Round Rock: 3

"At this stage information is very limited," officials said in a prepared statement. "WCCHD and Williamson County will share more as it becomes available and necessary to protect the health of the public."

Those with symptoms of respiratory illness including cough, fever and shortness of breath, are urged to contact their health care providers. It is important to call ahead before arriving at a clinic, urgent care or emergency department to avoid potential spread, officials added.
