Crackdown On Distracted, Speeding Drivers At School Zones Imminent: Williamson County Sheriff

On two days this week, deputies will ensure motorists drive carefully at crossings that include ones at Great Oaks and Bil Burden schools.

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TX — In light of the danger posed by distracted or speeding drivers to schoolchildren, the Williamson County Sheriff's Office will crack down on traffic enforcement at key school zone sites this week, officials said.

Williamson County Sheriff’s Office deputies will be enforcing the following transportation codes on the morning and evening this Wednesday and Thursday (May 3-4), officials said:

  • Obedience to Police Officers and School Crossing Guards.
  • Use of wireless communication devices in a school zone.
  • Passing a school bus.
  • Maximum Speed requirements

Deputies will be focusing on Great Oaks Elementary and Bill Burden Elementary among other school
zones, officials said in a news advisory. "The mission of the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Enforcement Division is to educate the public of the requirements they must adhere to when operating a vehicle in a posted school zone," officials said.
