Developing 365 By Whole Foods Market Could Feature Tattoo Parlor

It's an effort to appeal to younger set who like might want a new tattoo after picking out organic produce or free-range-chicken breasts.

CEDAR PARK, TX -- Come next year, while shopping at the by-then-opened 365 By Whole Foods Market, you’ll be able to pick up the healthful items you love most: Organic produce, eggs from free-range chickens, wild-caught fish, a new tattoo.

A tattoo?

According to Bloomberg.com, in-store tattoo parlors are part of a campaign Whole Foods Market co-CEO Walter Robb said is aimed at appealing to a younger, more budget-conscious shopping demographic. In reaching that coveted target audience, the new concept will feature tattoo parlors inside new stores or on the patio.

“We don’t see any reason why we can’t go participate in that part of the market as well with our 365 by Whole Foods offer -- it’s going to be unique,” Robb told Bloomberg.

Last year, Cedar Park was named as one of eight cities in Texas to get a 354 by Whole Foods Market site. The new store will be located just southwest of the Toll 183A and New Hope Drive intersection.

Cedar Park City Council members may not all be willing to get a new tattoo at the local store, but they previously approved a set of incentives to get the store built. Last November, council approved a $2 million performance-based incentive that would reward growth and property value growth and another $1.5 million inducement related to reduced costs for utilities and road and sidewalk installation.
