June Runoff Election Set For Leander Mayor's Race
Troy Hill and Vic Villarreal will go head-to-head this summer after neither secured more than 50 percent in a three-way race.

LEANDER, TX — A runoff date has been set for June 16 to select a mayor after neither candidate secured more than 50 percent of the vote at Saturday's election.
Troy Hill and Vic Villarreal will go head-to-head this summer with the mayor's position up for grabs. Hill got the most votes in a three-way race but fell short by 7 1/2 percentage points to achieve 50 percent of the electorate's endorsement.
Hill got 991 votes to Villarreal's 743 votes (31 percent), according to final tallies released by the City of Leander. Adam C. Benefield was a distant third with 597 votes (25.6 percent). The runoff election will take place on June 16.
