Leander Diner Owner Arrested For Alleged Indecency With A Child

George Babloo, 50, is alleged to have hugged, touched a girl inappropriately, leading to his arrest and possibly permanent closing of diner.

LEANDER, TX — A Leander restaurant owner was arrested for alleged indecency with a child after a girls outcry that he touched her inappropriately, according to a published report.

George Babloo, 50, was charged on Wednesday, the Austin American-Statesman reported. According to an arrest affidavit referenced by the newspaper, the charge stems from May 27 when Babloo allegedly touhed and hugged the girl in an inappropriate fashion.

According to the affidavit, Babloo, also is accused of telling the girl he enjoyed sex and wouldn't say anything if they had intimate relations. Police said they listened in on a telephone call the victim (a girl under the age of 17) made to Babloo to confront him about the groping, and the restaurateur apologized without denying what had happened, according to law enforcement officials.

Babloo was assessed the indecency with a child charge, which is punishable by up to 20 years in prison. As of Monday, he was being held in the Williamson County Jail with bail set at $150,000.

According to records, Babloo is owner of the Leander Diner, 2701 U.S. 183. A quick lookup of the restaurant online indicates the eatery is now "permanently closed," although it's unclear if its shuttering is due to Babloo's arrest.
