Leander Man Charged With Punching, Knifing Neighbor Working On His Car

Peter J. Luginbill, 53, and a friend apparently didn't like the glare from a light a neighbor was using to work on his car on Saturday.

LEANDER, TX — A man as arrested over the weekend after allegedly punching another person and then slicing him with a knife over his anger about a bright light being used to work on a car at night, according to a published report.

Peter Jacob Luginbill, 53, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon as a result of the incident, a second-degree felony potentially carrying a 20-year prison sentence. Police responded to the scene on Saturday just after 9 p.m. along the 700 block of Camino Real Drive in Leander, according to an arrest affidavit referenced by the Austin American-Statesman.

The victim told police that Luginbill and another man crossed the street while shouting profanities, demanding he turn off the light used to work on a vehicle in the victim's front yard. The victim said Luginbill pinned him against the vehicle before allegedly punching him in the face and cutting his left cheek with a knife, according to the report.

The victim said the man accompanying Luginbill also hit him, but that second man hasn't been charged, the newspaper noted. Luginbill was taken to the Williamson County Jail with a bail set at $30,000.
