Leander Report Of Near-Abduction Ruled False By Police
Widely shared Facebook post describing a "Mexican lady" who tried taking child from park is false account, police said after investigating.

LEANDER, TEXAS — The Leander Police Department has flagged a recent social media post written by an unknown person purporting to alert residents of an attempted kidnapping.
The widely shared Facebook post describes an incident during which a parent was at the park with her two young children when the family was approached by a woman who "...was very interested in my kids." When asked where her own children were, the woman "...kept dodging my question," the social media post described.
Then, the woman is said to have started to talk to the person's son "...and takes his hand acts likes she's going to head to the parking lot." After being confronted, the woman is said to have fled by running down the street to meet with a man in a truck. The person writing the social media post alerts other parents to be vigilant, describing the woman as "...a Mexican lady late 30s early 40s" who was wearing workout gear.
