Man Charged With Changing Cedar Park Electronic Road Sign To Read: "Drive Crazy, Y'All."

Geoffrey Eltgroth, 26, is well known to police, having been detained for earlier offenses dating to 2010.

CEDAR PARK, TX -- If you recall the image of an electronic sign this weekend that encouraged motorists to "Drive Crazy, Y'all" instead of alerting to road conditions, you weren't seeing things. The electronic sign was hacked by a miscreant who thought it would be funny to alter the warning sign with the directive.

Geoffrey Eltgroth, a 26-year-old man, was charged with criminal mischief for the alteration, KEYE-TV reported. According to an arrest affidavit, the man came across the electronic road sign in the 5500 block of the 183A toll road, somehow figured out the username and password to the sign machine to gain access and switch the message.

The incident occurred May 22. A witness reportedly saw Eltgroth type the message before walking away, the television station reports. A police officer located him at a nearby gas station, where he admitted changing the road sign.
