Police Cracking Down on Traffic Enforcement for Holiday

Police will be looking for unsafe or impaired drivers by increasing patrol presence.

The Cedar Park police want you to fill up on turkey, not beer, before you take the wheel Thanksgiving.

The police are stepping up traffic enforcement for the Thanksgiving season. The program, called the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program, will be put in place for 10 days and end November 30.

During STEP, Police presence on highly trafficked roads will increase.

“Throughout the ten day period, we will have increased patrol presence monitoring for unsafe driving behaviors including speeding and impaired and aggressive driving,” said a police department press release.

STEP isn’t a new initiative. Last year, Cedar Park police made 12 misdemeanor and two felony DWI arrests.
