Rash Of Car Thefts Reported In Cedar Park

One woman had her purse stolen, losing her credit cards, bank data and 'ton of gift cards' in the process.

CEDAR PARK, TX — Just as the season's first cold front descended on the city, a rash of car thefts hit Cedar Park early Thursday, police confirmed.

At least six so-called smash and grabs were reported on Thursday, including two at Champions Park, one at Twin Lakes Park and three at a newly built neighborhood in the 1400 block of Little Elm Trail near the Brushy Creek Trail, CBS Austin reported.

One woman reported having her rear driver's side window shattered to access her purse containing all her credit cards, bank information and "a ton of gift cards." All gone, she told the news station.

This is the second rash of car thefts to hit Cedar Park in mere months. In October, another series of car thefts took place — some of those at the same locations as this week's burglaries. Police were prompted at the time to issue some common-sense safety tips to prevent being victimized: Hide your valuables from plain sight in the console or trunk of the vehicle, leave them at home or take them with you.
