1,600 Dickinson Residents Lose Power After Truck Crash

The driver of a pickup truck hit a utility pole and ruptured a gas line during an early morning rollover crash.

DICKINSON, TX — More than 1,600 residents were without power after a pickup truck ran off the road and hit a utility pole and ruptured a gas.

The accident happened at about 1:30 a.m., Wednesday at Dickinson Ave. and 32nd Street.

Investigators said the driver of the pickup was traveling east on Dickinson Ave, when he lost control and flipped the pickup, hitting the utility pole and rupturing the gas line, which sparked a fire.

Initially about 3,000 residents lost power, but some of those residents had power restored quickly.

Witnesses told investigators that there were two people in the truck when it crashed, but it wasn’t know if anyone escaped, KHOU reported.

The crash resulted in a power outage in the area that was restored later that morning.
