Clear Creek ISD, La Marque M.S. To Receive State Disaster Grants
Harvey Recovery: 25 Libraries impacted by Harvey split $102K in state disaster relief

HOUSTON, TX — Clear Creek ISD and La Marque Middle School are among 25 Texas libraries that will recieve disasgter relief from the Texas Library Association.
The TLA announced Tuesday that $102,600 from the organization’s Disaster Relief Fund will be awarded to 25 libraries impacted by Hurricane Harvey.
Twelve of those libraries are in Houston, or the Greater Houston area.

Grants range from $2,500 to $15,000 and can be used for technology, facility repair, collections, furnishings, or other needs related to storm damage.
Academic, public, school and special libraries were eligible to receive assistance.

“We are so grateful for the tremendous support received from across the state and around the country,” said Elizabeth Hensley (Aldine ISD), TLA Disaster Relief Committee chair. “The library community’s generosity made these grants possible, and while the need is great, we are pleased to be able to help our fellow librarians in this way.”
2017 TLA Disaster Relief Grant Recipients In the Houston area include:
- Beth Yeshurun Library, Houston
- Brookside Intermediate School, Clear Creek ISD
- Gregory-Lincoln Education Center School for the Performing and Visual Arts, Houston ISD
- Hull-Daisetta Elementary School, Hull-Daisetta ISD
- Kendall Neighborhood Library, Houston Public Library System
- Kingwood Campus Library, Lone Star College
- Kingwood High School, Humble ISD
- La Marque Middle School, Texas City ISD
- Lakewood Neighborhood Library, Houston Public Library System
- Lemm Elementary School, Klein ISD
- Lutheran South Academy, Lutheran Education Association of Houston
- YES Prep North Central Campus, YES Prep Public Schools
As of Oct. 31, more than $160,130 has been donated to the TLA Disaster Relief Fund by 1100 individuals, organizations and corporations.
TLA continues to accept donations which will be used to fund future grants.
