19-Year Old Man Charged With Murdering Mother’s Boyfriend

GALVESTON, TX — A 19-year old man is being held in the Galveston County Jail, charged with the murder of his mother’s boyfriend.
Bryan Lee Bell is accused of shooting 44-year old Anthony Maupin to death on Sunday night, after Bell allegedly intervened in an argument between his mother and Maupin.

According to a Houston Chronicle report, police arrived at the home where they found Maupin suffering from a gunshot wound to his abdomen, and Bell was gone.
EMS personnel took Maupin to University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, where he later died.

Witnesses said Bell came to the home after someone inside the home called him to tell him his mother and Maupin were arguing.
Witnesses said when Bell arrived, he shot Maupin in the stomach and then allegedly held the gun to Maupin’s head, and then left with a group of friends.
Investigators said bell went back to his apartment and packed some belongings and drove to Livingston, where he was arrested on Wednesday.
Bell is being held in the Galveston County Jail with a bond set at $250,000.
