4 Clear Lake-Area School Districts Earn TASBO Award Of Merit
Clear Creek, La Porte, Pearland and Pasadena ISDs were among 53 organizations honored with the award for professional spending standards.
CLEAR LAKE, TX — Four school districts from the Clear Lake area were honored last week for their adherence to best practices in the acquisitions of goods and services.
Clear Creek ISD, La Porte ISD, Pearland ISD and Pasadena ISD were given the Award of Merit by the Texas Association of School Business Officials for exhibiting responsible and effective use of public funds.
"I am extremely proud of Greg Cruthirds and the entire purchasing team at CCISD," Clear Creek ISD Deputy Superintendent of Business and Support Services Paul McLarty said in a news release. "This is the sixth year they have been honored with the TASBO Award of Merit, and it reflects the continued excellence in our district. It should also inspire confidence in our taxpayers knowing that we have such a dedicated group of individuals managing taxpayer funds. I am honored to work side by side with them every day in the best interest of our more than 40,000 children."

TASBO honored 19 organizations in the Houston area, including 18 school districts. The award is given for following professional standards in the acquisition of goods and services. In 2022, 53 organizations earned the award, including school districts, open-enrollment charter schools and education services centers. The award has been given out annually since 2009.
Each year, TASBO officials review the award criteria to ensure it aligns with current best practices and reviews both new and recertification applications from organizations across the state.

"As Texas school districts face ever-increasing pressure to use funds efficiently, we're honored to recognize the work our honorees do to streamline operations, comply with regulations, and set the standard for how to utilize taxpayer dollars," TASBO Executive Director Tracy Ginsburg said.
