Two Presumed Dead After Apache Helicopter Crashes Off The Texas Coast In Seabrook

Helicopter was flying out of Ellington Airport, which has an army reserve unit based at that location

Updated 6:03 p.m.: A U.S. Army Apache Attack helicopter that was reportedly based at Ellington Field crashed into the water at El Jardin Beach near the Bayport Cruise Terminal in Seabrook.

The Apache had a pilot and co-pilot on-board at the time of the crash, and officials there confirmed that they are in recovery mode and that both are presumed dead.

While Ellington Field is the closest base with a military presence in the Houston area, Pasadena Fire Marshal David Brannon said they are still working to confirm who the aircraft belongs to.

"We don't even know where it came from. We haven't had anybody who has claimed it," Brannon told the Houston Chronicle.

Fort Hood officials in Killeen confirmed that all of their aircraft are accounted for, as did the Texas air National Guard in Austin.
