Baytown Police Arrest 4 Who Failed To Register As Sex Offenders

BAYTOWN, TX — A crackdown on sex offenders by the Baytown Police Department resulted in the arrest of four men for failing to comply with sex offender registration.

Police arrested Gary Young, 70; Jamie Lowry, 40; Tavorris Monroe, 37, and Joshua Prout, 25.

All four are charged with a felony offense of failing to register as a sex offender.

Baytown police officers knocked on more than 100 doors of homes and made unannounced visits to these homes to ensure sex offenders to ensure compliance with the state mandate.

Anyone in Texas who is convicted of a sexual offense, such as sexual assault, or aggravated sexual assault, are required by state law to register as a sex offender.

Individuals are required to report to the local law enforcement agency where they live within 7 days after being released from prison or jail.

They register in either the city or the county.

In some situations, the person may be required to report to the agency for the municipality in which they work or go to school.

If the offender often visits a particular region, they may also need to register there.
The individual must provide information such as:

• Their name
• Date of birth
• Physical description including shoe size
• Social security number
• Driver’s license number
• Address
• All phone numbers
• Any online identifiers
• Color photograph of themselves
• The type of offense the person was convicted of, the age of the victim, date of conviction, and punishment
• The individuals vocation or name of educational institution

If at any time an offender does not fully comply with the offender registration requirements, they can be charged with a felony.
