Escaped Galveston County Inmate Caught In Madisonville

Potter was apparently in the Madisonville area for several days before being recaptured.

GALVESTON, TX -- A Galveston County inmate who escaped while taking out the trash last
Monday, was recaptured in Madisonville, Texas.

Dominic Potter, 38, was recaptured on Friday afternoon after being seen on surveillance camera inside the Buc-ees store early Tuesday morning, and was found near the store on Friday after police received reports of a white man on foot acting suspicious.

Potter was in jail on a charge for forgery of a government document along with other parole violation charges.

Since Potter isn’t considered a violent offender, he was working in the kitchen.

Potter and another inmate, who were escorted by a detention officer, were throwing out trash at the back of the jail when Potter ran through an open gate that someone had just come through.

Police have not said when Potter will be brought back to Galveston County to face escape charges.
