Ex-Galveston ISD Teacher Charged With Sexually Assaulting A Student

GALVESTON, TX — A former Galveston ISD teacher is behind bars and charged with an inappropriate relationship with a student .

Eliezer Marquez, 27, who was a teacher at Galveston Ball High School, was allegedly have an inappropriate relationship with a 16-year old girl at the school last school year.

Marquez met the girl through family members and eventually began meeting with the girl at school, and communicating with her via text message, officials said.

Investigators said Marquez and the girl kissed during an encounter in his classroom, and that Marquez also put his hand up her skirt while they were kissing, KTRK reported.

In June, investigators said Marquez picked the girl up from an event at UTMB, and the two had sexual intercourse on East Beach in his pickup, KPRC reported.

Forensic investigators recovered nude photos on Marquez and the girls phones, that they’d sent to one another.

Marquez resigned from his position at Galveston ISD before the warrant for his arrest was issued.

He is being held in the Galveston County Jail with his bond set at $40,000.
