Former Clear Creek ISD Assistant Principal Convicted Of Intoxication Manslaughter

PEARLAND, TX — A former Clear Creek ISD principal could spend the next 20 years behind bars after she was convicted of intoxication manslaughter.

Amber Willemsen was found guilty of intoxication manslaughter on Tuesday for killing Pearland Police Officer Endy Ekpanya.

According to investigators with the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office, Willemsen was leaving her job at a Houston area strip club on June 12, 2016, when she slammed into the passenger side of Officer Ekpanya’s patrol car.

Investigators said Willemsen, who suffered only minor injuries in the crash, was traveling in the wrong lane at nearly 70 miles an hour when she hit the patrol car, KTRK reported.

Ekpanya was pinned inside his patrol unit and had to be freed by the jaws of life.

Ekpanya, who was just two days shy of his 31st birthday, died from his injuries on the way the hospital.

During her trial, video footage from inside the Ritz, where Willemsen worked as a stripper showed that she was having difficulty walking, the Houston Chronicle reported.

Prosecutors also showed video evidence that indicated Willemsen drank several times throughout her shift.

Willemsen’s blood alcohol level was .16 at the time of the accident, which is twice the legal limit in Texas.

Willemsen, formerly worked as an assistant elementary school principal in Clear Creek ISD, but left her position in 2012 for family reasons.
