Freeport Police Arrest Woman, Two Juveniles Connected To Shooting Of 13-Year Old Boy

FREEPORT, TX -- Police have arrested a 35-year old woman, and two more teens with connections to the shooting death of a 13-year old boy on April 19.

Police arrested Leslie Jamie, 35, a 13-year-old and a 14-year-old Thursday, a week after another 14-year-old was taken into custody and charged.

Juan Borja, 13, was shot to death in Peppermint Park, and died while being transported to an area hospital.

Witnesses said Borja brought a revolver to the park and was showing it to a group of friends, when he allegedly mentioned playing Russian Roulette, and loaded the gun with a single round, when a 14-year old boy grabbed the gun from Borja, and shot him in the chest.

The 14-year old then hid the gun in a nearby field, police said.

The teen was arrested and charged with manslaughter, and tampering with evidence, and is now facing three counts of burglary.

Police said Jaime, and three juveniles burglarized a building in the City of Jones Creek and stole several firearms, including the one used in Borja's shooting death.

Jaime was charged with two counts of burglary of a building, two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm by felon and one count of theft of property.

The two juveniles have been charged with three counts of burglary of a building.

Jaime is in the Brazoria County Jail on a $125,000 bond for all five charges. Meanwhile, the three juveniles are in the Brazoria County Juvenile Detention Center.
