Friendswood Man Who Used Child As Human Shield Is Arrested

Kyle Matthew Garey was charged with injury to a child, assault causing bodily injury, family violence and resisting arrest.

FRIENDSWOOD, TX — A 36-year old man was arrested on numerous charges after he used his child as a human shield while resisting arrest.

The incident began as a domestic disturbance call at about 1 a.m. on Saturday in the 1200 block of Twin Oaks Street.

When police arrived at the home and found that a woman had been assaulted.

Officers tried to take Kyle Matthew Garey, the woman’s husband, into custody, but he resisted and placing his 4-year old son between him and police.

Officers said the boy had red marks and scrapes on his neck and back, the Houston Chronicle reported.

Officers were able to separate the child fro Garey and take him into custody.

Garey was charged with injury to a child, assault causing bodily injury, family violence and resisting arrest.

His bond is set at $19,000.
