Galveston Installs New Bathroom Facilities Near Seawall

New bathrooms, which will be near bus stops, are part of transportation improvements along the city's main thoroughfare.

GALVESTON, TX — Beachgoers strolling Galveston’s seawall will undoubtedly notice something different this summer.

That’s because the city of Galveston is installing public restrooms near the seawall as part of a $6 million plan along the beach. (Want to get daily updates about traffic news and other events going on in your area? Sign up for the free Houston Patch morning newsletter.)

The first five prefabricated bathrooms were installed on Monday, according to a report from the Galveston County Daily News.

The bathrooms, which cost about $90,000 and will connect to the Galveston water and sewer system, will include a toilet and hand sanitizer dispenser on the inside, and and a handwashing station and shower on the outside, KPRC reported.

The new facilities are being installed as part of transportation-related improvements on Seawall Boulevard, and will be close to a new bus stop.
