Galveston Lowers Speed Limit On Seawall Blvd. to 35

Changes were made to make the city safer and more pedestrian friendly

GALVESTON, TX — The Galveston City Council voted Thursday to lower the speed limit along a segment of Seawall Blvd. from 40 to 35 miles per hour.

The changes will affect the area between 61st and 39th streets, and will go into effect in about 10 days.

The changes mean that the speed limit along most of the Galveston Seawall will be 35 miles per hour, KPRC reported.

Officials have been looking at remedies to make the city more walkable, especially along the Seawall, which runs along the beaches, and home Pleasure Pier, Murdochs, and numerous restaurants, bars and hotels in Galveston, KRIV reported.
