Gun Battle On A La Marque Street Leaves One Dead, One Injured

Witnesses said one of the men drove onto the street and an argument erupted followed by shots between both men: Police

LA MARQUE, TX — A shootout in the middle of a La Marque street early Wednesday morning left one man dead and another injured, according to police.

Police were called to a home off Richards Court and FM 1765 at about 12:45 a.m. for a shooting, according to a statement from the La Marque Police Department. When police arrived, they found one man dead with multiple gunshot wounds, and learned later that another was at the hospital with gunshot wounds, KHOU reported.

Family members at the scene identified the deceased man as 23-year old Rodney Stoll, who was the father of two small children, KTRK reported.

Witnesses told police that Stoll and another man got into an argument after Stoll drove onto the cul-de-sac, and both men started shooting at one another a short time later.

Police do not believe other people were involved at this time.

The other shooting victim is expected to recover from his injuries.

The shooting is under investigation.
