Man Arrested for Allegedly Trying to Run Over Police Officer

Officer was flagged down for a report of a suspicious vehcile that had been parked outside a business for several hours.

KEMAH, TX -- Police arrested a last week who allegedly tried to run over a Kemah police officer with his car.

David Rayes Nino was arrested Jan. 10 and charged with aggravated assault of a public servant and evading arrest after a short vehicle and foot chase.

According to police, Sgt. Marcus Way was flagged down at about 10 p.m. on Jan. 10 to investigate a suspicious vehicle that had been parked at a business for more than two hours.

Way went and checked the business, and tried to speak to the driver, identified as Nino.

Police said Nino sped away from Way and drove directly at him, forcing the officer to jump out of the way.

Nino was caught a short time later and taken to the Galveston County Jail.

His bond is set at $50,000.
