Man Charged With Capital Murder For Killing 6 year Old Girl

LEAGUE CITY, TX -- A League City man was indicted by a Galveston County grand jury on Thursday for beating his girlfriend's 6-year old daughter to death.

Evan David Nolan, 26, was arrested in August on a traffic stop and is being held in lieu of $250,000 bond in the Galveston County Jail.

Police learned of the incident on Aug. 17, when an off-duty police officer pulled Brithony Williams for reckless driving.

Police found the girl unconscious in Williams' car, and the girl was rushed to the hospital.

She died the next day.

Investigators determined she'd been severely beaten and had suffered head trauma and a lacerated liver.

According to court documents, Williams initially told investigators that the girl had a seizure while in the care of a babysitter and hit her head.

She indicated she didn't have a phone number for the babysitter.

Investigators allegedly confronted Williams about text messages between her and Nolan, which indicated he'd been watching the child at his apartment at the time of the incident.

Nolan was attested the next day.

If he is convicted, Nolan faces a possible death sentence.
