Man Shoots Ex-Girlfriend's New Boyfriend During Argument

SANTA FE, TX -- A man who police say was taking his child to see the child’s mother, shot the man who is now dating her after the two men got into an argument at her house on Friday morning.

Galveston County sheriff’s deputies were called to the home near Dickey Lane and Fir Road just before 11 a.m. for a shooting.

According to the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, a man arrived at the home so the woman -- his former girlfriend -- could see the child.

When the father and child arrived at the ex-girlfriend’s house, her new boyfriend came outside and began to argue and provoke the child's father.

Deputies said the father left the home with the child, and his ex-girlfriend called him and asked him to return so that she could visit the child.

He told his ex-girlfriend that he’d come back if her boyfriend would leave him alone.

However, deputies said that when the man and child returned to the house, the new boyfriend came back outside and was acting allegedly aggressively toward the man.

Deputies said the child's father told the boyfriend to stay away from him, but the woman’s new boyfriend ignored him and came towards the father who pulled out a gun and shot him in the stomach.

The father left the scene and called for help.

EMS arrived and took the man to Memorial Hermann Hospital, deputies said.

The condition of the man who was shot has not been released.

Deputies did not say if the father had been charged in the shooting.
