Rap Video Production Mistaken For Armed Robbery Attempt

Police responded to men in black with guns jumping from a U-Haul at a credit union on New Year's Day.

LAKE JACKSON, TX — The production of a music video had nearly tragic results, when the men taking part in the video were mistaken for bank robbers.

At about 1:45 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 1, onlookers called police when a U-Haul truck pulled in front of the Lake Jackson Credit Union in the 1000 block of FM 2004, and four men dressed in black and carrying guns jumped from the back of the truck.

Officers from the Lake Jackson Police Department arrived at the credit union and detained the group of men, until it was determined that the so-called robbery was really a rap video production by Angleton rappers Tru and his musical partner Yung Groovey.

“It was a bad idea with a good reason,” Tru said. “They came back and said, ‘Get on the ground, get the (expletive) on the ground.’”

However, once the rappers explained to police what was happening, they were released without charges being filed.
