GALVESTON, TX — Three people were rescued early Monday after they became stranded on a sailboat late Sunday. Officials said the three were sailing from Port Arthur, and that the sun had begun to set as they returned to Galveston.

Andrew Green, 86, who was piloting the boat with his wife and a neighbor, had difficulty navigating the waters and got caught on the wrong side of the jetty, KRIV reported.

Coast Guard officials were called, but the water was too shallow, so Galveston Beach Patrol was called to bring the three to safety, KTRK reported.
