Suspect In League City Shooting Caught Near New Mexico Checkpoint [UPDATE]

LEAGUE CITY, TX — A Sugar Land man who was wanted for the shooting death of a League City man Wednesday night, was detained aqt a border checkpoint by law enforcment officials near Las Cruces, New Mexico on Thursday.

Sayantan Ghose, 41, is charged with the murder of Clarence Wayne Harris II, 43, and the aggravatede assault of Harris' wife, 36-year old Amanda Harris.

Police were called to the 700 block of Mayhill Ridge Lane at about 9 p.m. for a report of a disturbance.

The Amanda Harris, who was shot twice, was taken to an area hospital and is recovering.

Investigtors learned earlier today that Amanda Harris is Ghose's ex-wife.

Police said that there was a party at the house, and that at some point, the man and woman began arguing with Sayantan Ghose, which led to the shooting, KTRK reported.

Witnesses said that Ghose, drove away in gray 2011 Toyota Corolla with Texas license plate DK6M556, adn wasw not seen until he was detained hous later.

Ghose's bond is set at $150,000.
