Texas City Issues Permits For Adventure Pointe Amusement Park

Adventure Pointe is being built on 25 acres and will include a mini railroad, an outdoor ice skating rink, and a live entertainment venue.

TEXAS CITY, TX -- Officials in Texas City have approved the issuance of permits to build the first two buildings of a planned amusement southeast of the Houston area.

Adventure Pointe, located on 25 acres at Interstate 45 near the Tanger Outlet Mall and the Lago Mar master-planned community, will be the latest amusement center planned in the Houston area since the demise of Astroworld, a staple of entertainment from 1968 until 2005.

Crews began the infrastructure work at the site in 2015, and the site work last year, officials said.

His father, Louis Slusky created Playland Park in the 1940s, which remained in operation until Astroworld opened in the late 1960s.

Adventure Pointe will include a mini railroad, ice skating rink, go-karts, a pirate ship, a boardwalk and a live entertainment venue.

Nicholas Finan, executive director of management services for the City of Texas City, said in a press release that city leaders were excited to have this new attraction coming to the city.

“There will be a difference entering Texas City that you will not see as you move from city to city in other parts of Houston,” she said. “Dr. Slusky sees that vision and is helping to make Adventure Point, Lago Mar, Texas City and its gateway a special place.”
