Woman And Infant Killed In Crash On Gulf Freeway
A woman and her baby died early Wednesday when their car was rear-ended by a suspected drunk driver on the southbound I-45 feeder road.

HOUSTON, TX — A woman and her baby were killed early Wednesday when they were rear-ended by a young woman driving an SUV.
The crash happened at about 4 a.m., on the southbound feeder road at Interstate 45 near El Dorado Blvd.
Police have identified the victims killed in the crash as 36-year old Shayla Joseph, and her 3-month-old son Braylan Jabari Joseph.

According to a KTRK report, Shayla Joseph was employed at UTMB in Galveston and was on maternity leave.
Police are still trying to determine if Joseph's car was disabled when she was hit, or if the driver of the SUV was going too fast.

Investigators said the driver of the SUV, a 20-year old woman, was intoxicated at the time of the crash.
She and her 17-year old passenger were taken to an area hospital and are expected to recover.
The Houston Police has recommended to the Harris County District Attorney that intoxication manslaughter charges be filed against the driver of the SUV.
The case remains under investigation.
