2018 Texas Primary Election: Montgomery County Results

Wow: County Judge Craig Doyal loses re-election bid, Commissioners Riley and Clark head to a runoff on May 22.

CONROE, TX — One of the liveliest midterm election seasons in recent memory drove voters to the polls, but in Montgomery County, it was the local elections and the race for county judge that took center stage.

Hoping for a second term as county judge was not in the cards for County Judge Craig Doyal, who lost to former State Rep. Mark Keough.

Keough won with 57 percent to Doyal's 42 percent.

Keough will face Democrat Jay Stittleburg in the November election.

Meanwhile, Precinct 2 County Commissioner Charlie Riley narrowly avoided defeat, winning 44 percent of the ballots to Greg Parker's 43 percent.

Both men will go to a runoff, with the winner running against Democrat Ron Keichline in November.

In the Precinct 4 Commissioners race, incumbent Jm Clark won just 34 percent of the ballots to Jim Metts 40 percent.

The winner of that runoff will win the seat.

Runoff elections are May 22.
