They also advanced debris-removal flood projects on San Jacinto River tributaries and awarded a nearly $6 million contract to widen and improve drainage on roads near Hwy. 249. 
2. The Woodlands Township slates $600K for sports facility study (communityimpact.com) — Conroe ISD could partner with The Woodlands Township on a proposed indoor sportsplex that might serve soccer, football, lacrosse, band and more. Township directors just earmarked $600,000 in their 2027 budget to study options, including Bear Branch Park and other large parks, potentially creating a new regional practice hub for Conroe-area students and teams.
3. Texas' Bluebonnet Curriculum Stumbles Out of the Gate (ksstradio.com) — Classrooms in Conroe ISD started the new year coping with missing workbooks and improvised printouts after the state's new Bluebonnet curriculum stumbled in delivery. A supply-chain breakdown left districts scrambling to print materials themselves, while the Texas Education Agency now plans reimbursements that could cost taxpayers millions and intensify debates over school funding and curriculum design.
4. Why thousands of Texas school voucher recipients didn't use them (houstonchronicle.com) — Families in and around Conroe are finding that Texas' new school vouchers don't always translate into real options, especially for students with dyslexia in Conroe ISD. One local mother ultimately gave up more than $30,000 in potential funding after struggling to find nearby private schools with needed services, tight application deadlines, and long commutes into Houston. State officials are now studying why thousands of families statewide declined vouchers.
