Montgomery County Sheriff's SWAT, drone, and negotiation teams surrounded the house until the suspect surrendered without injuries, and he now faces serious firearm and assault charges with no bond set.

Montgomery County FY 2026-27 budget grows to $552.7M after workshops (communityimpact.com) โ Montgomery County officials have tentatively set a $552.7 million budget and a higher de minimis property tax rate that will directly affect Conroe homeowners and county services. The plan includes a 5% across-the-board employee raise, more law enforcement and clerk positions, and added IT staffing, with final tax rate and budget votes scheduled after public hearings on Sept. 8.
