Conroe City Council keeps Flock cameras, firefighter collective bargaining off November ballot (communityimpact.com) — Conroe's City Council has decided not to place two hot-button issues — Flock license plate cameras and firefighter collective bargaining — on this November's ballot, despite resident petitions and public comments. Instead, council members rejected a referendum on camera use and sent the firefighter bargaining question to a committee, citing missed election deadlines and cost concerns while union leaders continue pushing for a public vote. 
2. Conroe ISD maintains B Rating, celebrates breakthrough Campus growth and accelerates Improvement Efforts (hellowoodlands.com) — Conroe ISD has again earned an overall B rating from the Texas Education Agency, with nearly three-quarters of its 66 campuses scoring an A or B and several schools making double-digit gains. District leaders say they're proud of standout improvements at campuses like Lamar Elementary, Stockton Junior High, and Conroe High School, but are launching targeted support plans for seven underperforming schools as they push toward a "Drive 2 90" goal by 2027-28.
3. Conroe man with felony record arrested after armed family violence incident triggers SWAT standoff (kbtx.com) — Law enforcement responded to a tense armed family disturbance at a home in Conroe, where a man with a felony record allegedly threatened relatives with a weapon and then barricaded himself inside. Montgomery County Sheriff's SWAT, drone, and negotiation teams surrounded the house until the suspect surrendered without injuries, and he now faces serious firearm and assault charges with no bond set.
4. Montgomery County FY 2026-27 budget grows to $552.7M after workshops (communityimpact.com) — Montgomery County officials have tentatively set a $552.7 million budget and a higher de minimis property tax rate that will directly affect Conroe homeowners and county services. The plan includes a 5% across-the-board employee raise, more law enforcement and clerk positions, and added IT staffing, with final tax rate and budget votes scheduled after public hearings on Sept. 8.
