Conroe Boy's February Death Ruled Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

Conroe police confirmed the autopsy results from 11-year-old who died during the winter storm in February while his home was without power.

CONROE, TX — The death of an 11-year-old boy from Conroe during February's winter storm was confirmed by police Wednesday to be caused by carbon monoxide poisoning.

The boy, whose name is Cristian Pavon Pineda, according to the Conroe Courier, died on Feb. 16 when his family's mobile home was without power, like millions of Texans during February's power crisis caused by winter storms. An autopsy was performed on Feb. 18 and found the cause of death to be acute carbon monoxide toxicity, according to a Conroe Police Department news release.

"The Conroe Police Department expresses our condolences to the family and friends who have been impacted by this tragic event," the release stated. "The criminal investigation into this tragic death is considered closed. The Conroe Police Department will have no further comment."

Court index records show that his mother, Maria Pineda, is a plaintiff in a lawsuit against the Electric Reliability Council of Texas filed in Jefferson County on Feb. 22.
