Gas Prices In Montgomery County, Across Texas
Though gas prices are rising steadily, Texas and Montgomery County have among some of the lowest prices at the pump in the country.
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX — Travelers in Texas may be in for some sticker shock as gas prices continue to rise, but the state, and particularly Montgomery County, is seeing more of a reprieve from the pump than the rest of the country.
Gas prices reached a seven-year high this summer, according to a recent AAA report. As of Tuesday, the average price for a gallon of gas in the United States was $3.16. Last year, gas prices hovered around $2.18 per gallon in July. In Texas, the average price per gallon is $2.83, and Montgomery County is even lower at $2.78.
Looking to save money on a Texas road trip? If you're going to East or West Texas, fill up in Montgomery County or one of the major metro areas beforehand. If you're driving to or through the Panhandle, be sure to top off there as it has some of the lowest gas prices in the state.

If you take a trip to the western United States, you'll likely be paying some of the highest gas prices in the nation. Gas prices have reached as high as $4.24 in California, $3.67 in Nevada and $3.64 in Washington state.
Meanwhile, Southern states including Texas, Alabama, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Missouri enjoy the nation's lowest gas prices, ranging from $2.72 to $2.87 per gallon.
