Liberty County Dad Charged With Child Endangerment

CLEVELAND, TX — A Liberty County man who was photographed with with his toddler on the front of his motorcycle on Sunday, has been charged with child endangerment.

The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office charged 31-year old Anthony Welsh with child endangerment after a photograph of him with his child perched on the front of his high-performance motorcycle began making the rounds on social media sites. In Texas, it is illegal for a child under the age of 5-years old to be on a motorcycle.

The photo, which showed Welsh sitting at an intersection with his toddler on the front of the motorcycle, ignited complaints and concerned comments to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office.

The photo led investigators to arrest Welsh on an outstanding traffic warrant out of Deer Park while they investigated the allegation against him.

Investigators spoke with several eyewitnesses who claimed they saw Welsh driving with the child on the front of his motorcycle, KTRK reported.

Welsh was released from the Deer Park jail on Wednesday, and an arrest warrant has been issued, but Welsh is at large, officials told KHOU.
