Razor Blade Found Attached To Huntsville Target Shopping Cart

The incident follows a similar one, where a razor blade was found melted into a playground slide.

HUNTSVILLE, TX -- A customer at the Ravenwood Village Target in Huntsville found a utility knife blade attached to a shopping cart on Tuesday. The incident follows the discovery of similar blade in a children's slide at a Huntsville playground.

Police said the blade was found after a customer suffered a minor injury from the blade, according to Click 2 Houston. No other shopping carts have been found tampered, police say.

Judy Arnold, a worried shopper, told Click 2 Houston "It's scary that you can't even go shopping without worrying about something like that."

The last such incident, even more horrifying, is when an inspector found a similar blade melted into a children's playground slide in Huntsville last week.

Police say it's unknown whether the two blades are connected, but are asking citizens to stay vigilant. Anybody with information is urged to call Walker County Crime Stoppers at 936-294-9494.

“Citizens have been instrumental in catching these kinds of criminals in the past," Huntsville police Chief Kevin Lunsford told Click 2 Houston. "We are concerned about the safety of our residents."

Target released the following statement on Tuesday about the discovery:

"At Target, the safety and security of our guests and team members is a top priority. As soon as our store team learned of this incident, we immediately assisted the guest. We are partnering with local law enforcement and have shared our surveillance video to assist in the investigation. Additionally, we are checking all carts at our Houston-area stores to ensure they are safe for guests."
