See 7 updates to road projects in Conroe and Montgomery (communityimpact.com) — Drivers in Conroe and Montgomery face major changes as multiple widening projects move forward on Calvary Road, Hwy. 105, South Loop 336, FM 1097, and a new I-45 connector to Hwy. 242. Several projects are already more than 80% complete, while others remain in design or early construction, shaping how quickly you can reach I-45, Lake Conroe, and surrounding neighborhoods.

Conroe Noon Lions: Read for a Better Life, Kids on the Lake successful service events (houstonchronicle.com) — Conroe Noon Lions are wrapping up several hands-on projects, from reading to students at Reaves Elementary to hosting a special-needs kids' fishing day at Owen Park and providing free vision screenings at the Conroe Assistance Center. They're also recruiting help for preschool screenings, a Sporting Clay Shoot fundraiser on October 3, and their Hometown Military Hero recognition program, while inviting new members to weekly Wednesday meetings.
   

3. Conroe advances purchase of Mid-South water systems (communityimpact.com) — Conroe officials are moving ahead with buying Mid-South's water and wastewater systems, a deal that would add 22 wells, three plants and over 200 miles of lines to the city network. City leaders say the purchase, to be financed with future revenue bonds, is key to preventing water shortages and supporting growth, especially along the Highway 105 corridor.
   

4. Best Oktoberfest Houston 2026 Events: Games, Music & Contests (houstononthecheap.com) — Conroe families can enjoy a free, family-friendly Oktoberfest-themed Fall Festival at Sacred Heart Catholic School on October 17, featuring kids' games, live music, food, and a beer garden. The guide also rounds up major Oktoberfest celebrations across Greater Houston, Galveston, Katy, Sugar Land, and Kemah, with tips on travel times and which events are best suited for families versus adults.
