Man found dead outside Conroe courthouse before sentencing, police say (yourconroenews.com) — Conroe residents should know that a man was found dead from an apparent self‑inflicted gunshot outside the Lee Alworth Building Friday morning, prompting a closure of West Phillips Street during the investigation. Authorities say there is no ongoing threat to the public, but drivers are urged to avoid the courthouse area and use alternate routes while Conroe police continue their work.

2. Rotary: Rotarians participate in reading event at Runyan Elementary (yourconroenews.com) — Students at Runyan Elementary in Conroe enjoyed special reading sessions as Rotary Club of Conroe members, dressed as Thomas Jefferson and other colonial figures, brought history to life in their classrooms. Local Rotarians also helped present America250 history lessons to Magnolia and Willis ISD students and continue supporting youth leadership and global polio eradication through active Interact Clubs and service projects.

3. Conroe Noon Lions: Club members usher in fall with a full service calendar (houstonchronicle.com) — Conroe residents looking to plug into community service have a busy fall ahead with the Conroe Noon Lions Club, from preschool vision screenings to the October 3 Annual Clay Shoot at Blackwood Gun Club. 4. Texas city delays $4 stormwater fee as $210 million in drainage needs loom (thecooldown.com) — Conroe officials just delayed a proposed $4 monthly stormwater fee, even as they face roughly $210 million in identified drainage projects affecting neighborhoods like Alligator Creek and Live Oak Creek. City staff will keep studying costs, grants, and a possible stormwater utility before council revisits the idea, while only about $5 million in drainage work is currently budgeted for next year.
