Woman suffers brutal attack during solo protest on Texas overpass (king5.com) — A woman conducting a solo banner protest on the Loop 336 overpass above I-45 says a nearby Conroe police officer likely saved her life after she was violently attacked and seriously injured. The 69-year-old suffered facial fractures and a concussion, and the suspect is now jailed on a serious felony charge. She’s recovering and hopes to eventually thank the officer who intervened.
   

4. Tompkins Still the Fastest Team in Texas (milesplit.com) — Conroe-area fans saw Grand Oaks’ boys 4x100 relay battle for a state title, ultimately earning bronze in a blazing-fast UIL 6A final. Katy Tompkins successfully defended its championship, while Cypress Springs surged late to grab second in a tight finish.
