At a recent panel, leaders warned that reservoir levels dropped dangerously low, urged taking water decisions out of politicians' hands, and called for stronger planning before the next drought hits.
   

2. Port of Corpus Christi Secures Discharge Permit for Harbor Island Desalination Project (texasscorecard.com) — Corpus Christi's long-term water outlook took a major step forward as the Port of Corpus Christi secured a key discharge permit for the Harbor Island desalination project, which could supply up to 100 million gallons of drinking water daily. The offshore design responds to bay concerns, replaces an earlier smaller plan, and comes as City Council debates other desal options amid easing but persistent drought worries.
   

3. Yorktown Boulevard intersection closures extended amid Bond 2020 reconstruction project updates (kristv.com) — Drivers in south Corpus Christi should prepare for extended closures at several Yorktown Boulevard intersections, including Ranch View and Lasso through Oct. 3 and new dates for Krypton and Loyd Neal starting Oct. 5. Eastbound Yorktown remains closed from Rodd Field to the Oso Creek Mud Bridge, with two-way traffic on westbound lanes, as the Bond 2020 reconstruction project continues toward a 2027 completion.
   

4. From Canada to Corpus Christi: J200 tennis tournament brings global players to Coastal Bend (kiiitv.com) — Youth tennis players from around the world are in Corpus Christi this week for the J200 tournament at the H-E-B Tennis Center, bringing hundreds of hotel nights and nearly half a million dollars in economic impact. Tourism leaders say this event, along with the Texas Food Championships and a country concert, helps extend the city's visitor season and showcase local attractions beyond summer.
