Here's how Corpus Christi ISD scores compare to other urban districts (caller.com subscription) — Corpus Christi ISD earned an overall B rating from the state and sits roughly in the middle of Texas' 50 largest school systems, but with no F-rated campuses and only four D-rated schools. The district has so far avoided the state takeovers seen in Houston and Fort Worth, with more than 92% of campuses scoring A–C in the latest accountability ratings. 
2. Farrah Fawcett Is Getting A Very Nostalgic Statue In Her Texas Hometown (doyouremember.com) — Corpus Christi leaders have approved plans for a privately funded Farrah Fawcett statue that could soon overlook Shoreline Boulevard near the Art Center. The Friends of Farrah Fawcett group will pay for building, installing, and maintaining the nostalgic tribute, while engineers work with the city to pick a safe, long-lasting waterfront location.
3. Corpus Christi woman accused of defrauding elderly patients returns to court (kiiitv.com) — A Corpus Christi woman's fraud trial over alleged financial exploitation of elderly patients is now in its fourth day at a local court, with prosecutors calling healthcare officials to testify about large payments and questioned transactions. The defense is challenging how those payments are characterized, and jurors are hearing about checks allegedly issued after a patient's death, with more witnesses expected into next week.
4. 2026 Coastal Bend players on the radar and more on the Friday Night Fever Preview Show (kristv.com) — Corpus Christi football fans are getting ready as the 2026 Texas high school season kicks off, with a preview show spotlighting standout Coastal Bend players and key week-one matchups. The Friday Night Fever special also highlights a new Alice stadium, IWA's move to 11-man football, and several area teams ranked in Dave Campbell's preseason poll.
5. Navy To Issue Custom Hearing Protection For Naval Aviators And Aircrew (aero-news.net) — Naval aviators and aircrew training in Corpus Christi are among more than 1,000 CNATRA personnel getting custom-fitted communication earplugs after large-scale digital ear-scanning events this summer. The new process replaces older silicone molds, aiming to improve comfort, hearing protection, and in-flight communication for student aviators and instructors across multiple training wings.
