• September 13, 1934 to July 16, 2026 (91) (cueroonlinenews.com) — Family and friends in Cuero are mourning 91-year-old Carlton Rudolph West, who passed away July 16 after a life that included marriage in Cuero, work with Cuero nursing facilities, and many days hunting and fishing along the Guadalupe River. He is survived by children and grandchildren in Cuero and Victoria and was laid to rest at St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Lindenau.

• Cuero Band Boosters launch matching donation challenge for new band uniforms (crossroadstoday.com) — Cuero Band Boosters have launched a 2-to-1 matching donation challenge to help buy long-needed new uniforms for the Cuero Fighting Gobbler Band. With current uniforms over a decade old and in short supply, the group aims to raise $100,000 and has already collected $19,500 from supporters who want students representing Cuero to look as sharp as they perform.
